About Us

We oppose Cincinnati Issue 9. Vote no on Issue 9, the anti-progress charter amendment.

Become a Cincinnatian for Progress

Cincinnati is finally moving forward. Now a group of the same old naysayers want to stop progress. They are pushing for a charter amendment that will handcuff the mayor and stop the city from moving forward. Their latest effort jeopardizes the city from supporting all forms of passenger rail transit in the city, including trains and light rail. While other cities are moving forward and creating jobs, Cincinnati will be left behind (again).

We don't want California style government in Cincinnati

If the Anti-Progress Charter Amendment passes, elections in Cincinnati will resemble California, with an endless stream of referendums and initiatives. These efforts are supported and funded by special interests who need to work outside the legislative system in order to get their measure passed. In California, this has resulted in multi-billion dollar tax increases and budget deficits. We don't need to turn Cincinnati into the California of the Midwest!

Protect the city charter

The City Charter is Cincinnati's version of the Constitution. It shouldn't be used as a vehicle for binding referendums that handcuff the mayor and keep city government from moving forward.

Cincinnati needs jobs

This Anti-Progress Amendment will cost Cincinnati jobs and put the city at a competitive disadvantage by impeding the city's ability to develop our regional infrastructure. It prevents the city from reacting to different or unforeseeable circumstances and changes in technology or political opportunities, such as the federal stimulus dollars.

Cincinnatians for Progress is a Volunteer Committee

We are a diverse group of people who live and work in this region and we are committed to building public support for initiatives that promote progress for our City.

Mayor Mark Mallory is the Chairman of Cincinnatians for Progress. Don Mooney is the treasurer for our committee. Committee Co-Chairs are Bobby Maly, Rob Richardson and Joe Sprengard.

Our Mission is in Our Name

We were formed to defeat the Anti-Progress Charter Amendment that would hand-cuff our City and prevent our region from moving forward with critical transportation plans that create jobs and make Cincinnati more economically competitive.
